Ancestor of the Angiras
Of the sixteen lands ruled by the Kings of Vivanghat that comprised the Areyanum Veia, only nine can be indentified in modern times. Whether these nine are the original lands mentioned or whether they were ancient (post glacial) namesakes of prehistoric (pre-iceage) kingdoms, or represent post glacial continuity is unclear.
- Sughdha (Suguda[Persian], Σογδιανή[Greek], Samarkand[Modern])
- Môuru (Margu[Persian], Μαργιανή[Greek], Merv[Modern])
- Bâkhdhi (Bâkhtri[Persian], Βάκτρα[Greek], Balkh[Modern]) Alt: The Balkans
- Harôyu (Haraiva[Persian], Ἄρεια[Greek], Hari-rud[Modern]) Alt: Possible homeland of later Habiru Peoples.
- Vehrkâna (Varkâna[Persian], Ὑρκανία[Greek], Gorgân Georgia[Modern]) Alt: Possibly also origin of the Varagian
- Harahvaiti (Harauvati[Persian], Ἀράχωτος[Greek], Harut(Modern)) Homeland of the Angels "Harut and Marut".
- Haêtuma (--, Ἐτύμανδρος[Greek], Helmend[Modern])
- Raghad (Raga[Persian], Ῥαγαί[Greek, Raï[Modern])
- Hapto hindu (Hindavas[Persian], Ἰνδοί[Greek], Pangab/Punjab[Modern])
The remaining cities are tentatively identified through hermetic examination of locations and their relationships to events in the mythological texts. What needs to be remembered is that these are historical accounts of prehistoric events. It is quite unlikely that any of the original lands in the text survived the ice-age intact and in a manner that would render them recognizable to the historians who seek to identify them. They do serve a purpose though in illustrating a continuity and connection between the various surviving tribes of people in the area and give a context in which to pursue historic, anthropological, and genealogical research.
